Морковь у нас самый востребованный плод после картошки. Однако используется она чаще всего для заправки супов или как компонент зажарки. Даже усвоенные с детства знания о ее полезности, не особо подстегивают к кулинарным экспериментам с нею. Сейчас самое время заняться морковью. Совсем недавно выдернутая из земли она еще не успела залежаться, усохнуть и потерять свою витаминную ценность.

Содержание каротина в ней просто зашкаливает. Правда, каротин сам по себе очень плохо усваивается, ему для этого нужен жир. Поэтому, чтобы получить от моркови максимальную пользу ее следует употреблять в паре с маслом или сметаной.

Морковь полезна и свежая, и вареная. Свежая — богата витаминами, а вареная — антиоксидантами. Американские ученые обнаружили, что количество антиоксидантов в моркови после варки резко увеличивается и продолжает расти в первую неделю хранения.

Что говорить, — полезная вещь и, что немаловажно, вкусная. Сколько достойных блюд из нее можно сделать. Только один морковный кекс чего стоит!  Я не знаю людей к нему равнодушных.

А  история с морковным джемом? Из-за этого вкусного португальского деликатеса в Евросоюзе в 1991 году случился казус. Морковь там переименовали из овоща в фрукт. Не вписался джем в жесткий регламент ЕС, запрещающий продажу овощного варенья. И европейцам пришлось слукавить, — утвердить морковь фруктом. С тех пор у нас морковь –овощ, а в Европе – фрукт.
